Walleye Classic Participants:

Plans are underway for the 19th Annual Walleye Classic Tournament, which will be held May 17th, & 18th, 2008. The rules meeting will be held May 16th at the Ventura Community Center in Ventura, Iowa. (Same location as last year.) All teams must check in by 6:30 p.m. The fishing club will provide a meal free of cost to tournament fishermen only. Advance tickets for guests can be purchased at $5.00 per ticket. Please include the payment for extra meal tickets with your entry fee. Limited tickets will be available at the door.

Entry fee and payback – All entry fees will be sent to or taken to the Crazy Minnow Company: P.O. Box 46 / 504 Hwy. 18 East / Clear Lake, IA 50428. No exceptions. There will be an 80% payback with an entry fee of $200.00 per team. If your team member is an immediate family member with the same address, the entry fee is $185.00. First place is guaranteed $2500.00. Teams placing 21-25 will receive $150.00. There is an optional donation to the Dustin Colby Memorial Fund, a fallen soldier and son of Clear Lake Fishing Club members, Lance and Misti Thoe. All prize money is dependent on the number of entries.

Option pot – Each team has the option of putting $10.00 in the pot for the largest walleye caught each day. Winner takes all. The number of teams entered will determine size of the pot. This has the potential of being $500.00 each day. The option pot is to be paid on rules night – cash only.

Other prizes – As of 5/11/08, 23 - $100 dollar tagged "Prize Fish" remain to be caught. These tags will be honored in the Classic and will continue to be good up until March 31st, 2009. The $1000 dollar fish from last year has been caught. A new $1000 dollar fish, sponsored by JBS Auto, will be tagged and released at the end of the Classic on May 18th. That tag will be good until the end of next year's Classic, if not caught before.

Change in rules - Starting this year, teams will be allowed to weigh your best 5 of your limit of 6 fish. All fish must be a minimum of 14”. Two walleyes over 22” are allowed per team.

Fishable waters – Clear Lake proper. No fishing is allowed in the Harborage or Venetian Village.
