Clear Lake Fishing Club Meetings

The Clear Lake Fishing club met at Bennigans on May 19, 2010.

Before the meeting I met with Scott Grummer of the DNR Fisheries to go over there take on the Classic. They thought everything went fairly well, with a couple suggestions for next year to continue to reduce the amount of stress the walleye will go through. He also told we they just stocked 10,000 2-3 inch northerns into Clear Lake and are trying to raise some others in a holding pond to release this fall if all goes well. He also said they did release 18.5 million walleye fry this spring.

During this meeting we discussed all aspects of the classic. We discussed how the rules meeting meeting went, trying to make sure everything is covered. We all felt the morning check in process went much smoother and quicker (weather definately helped that), how to handle parking uptown. Discussed everything from boating on the water, the use of planer boards, drift lines, anchoring, etc.

Thanks to all of your help this year was another successful year. We weighed a total of 602 walleyes during the 2 days.

The Take-A-Kid Fishing Tournament will be held at McIntosh State Park on June 5th. The DNR will have a fishing seminar from 8:30-10:00 and the tournament will be from 10:00-1:00 wil lunch served and lots of prizes. So bring the kids and have some fun.

Please feel free to contact any of us on questions, ideas or to volunteer to help. Every bit will be greatly appreciated. Brad Bull - President (641-583-0305), Jeff Giesman - Vice President (641-425-3405), Dan Krauth - Secretary (641-512-2225), Kristi Wilcke - Treasurer (641-430-6348)
